Brent Jaster

Brent Jaster, MD, is a board certified family physician, and a graduate of Dartmouth Medical School. Dr. Jaster has experience using weekly group meetings to successfully teach research participants with type 2 diabetes specific diets that improved health (Abstract)]. In addition, he has used shared medical appointments (SMAs) in family medicine clinics for postpartum, well child, and diabetes care. Dr. Jaster speaks regularly to organizations about SMAs and helps health care providers implement successful SMA programs. He is a consultant for the Colorado Clinical Guidelines Collaborative Improving Performance in Practice program, and other organizations.

Dr. Jaster is mentored by John Scott, MD, the creator of the CHCC model of SMAs. He is a speaker for the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, American Academy of Family Physicians, and Brent’s favorite audiences are community organizations and everyday community members. Dr. Jaster co-wrote a disease- and scientific evidence-based nutrition guide.

Brent lives in Denver, Colorado, with his wife, daughter and cocker spaniel. He thoroughly enjoys connecting with people from all backgrounds and cultures. Brent knows that the current medical system makes it more challenging to connect with patients and to maximally promote health. Most patients would benefit from nutrition- and lifestyle-focused care, but insurance companies do not generally reimburse doctors to provide “preventive” services. For these reasons, Dr. Jaster practices medicine differently.

Dr. Jaster extends a personal invitation to explore JasterHealth services, and improve health and wellness. Welcome!
